HISTORY OF HOOK & LOOPs

Velcro was first invented in 1941 by Swiss engineer, George de Mestral. At that time, he had just returned from hunting with his dog in the Alps. He noticed lots of burdock seeds stuck to his dog’s clothes and fur. Armed with curiosity, he conducted research using a microscope. From there, George found hundreds of hooks on these seeds that could get stuck in fibrous objects, such as cloth, fur, and hair. From this discovery, the idea emerged to develop a tool that could unite two objects. Finally, he perfected his findings until 1955. He also managed to obtain a patent for his creation.
